When asked if you should use a bike or run i said: “In my opinion While running is a great cardiovascular activity, if you’re not careful, it can cause joint problems down the line — especially if you’re overweight. “Cycling gives people who do not have the optimal bodyweight the possibility to get a good cardiovascular and strength training workout,” .

In addition riding a bike can be a great activity no matter if you are looking to improve in the following areas:
CONCENTRATION Activities that require balance, quick reactions and decision-making skills—
STRESS AND ANXIETY Research has shown that vigorous exercise is so effective at quelling anxiety and depression that some patients have been able to reduce or eliminate the use of medications
MEMORY For the hippocampus—a region of the brain that controls long-term and spatial memory—bigger is better. And as with the rest of your body’s muscles, exercise makes the hippocampus grow
Bicycle and Parkinson Disease
On a side note biking has an icnredible effect on neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson especially with those ones with a freezing gait. I wanted to share an icnredible video of a patient with Parkinson while had terrible challenges when asked to walk he was smooth on a bike recovering some of the most important memories this patient had and in the past.
Perhaps the most dramatic example of the way cycling can activate the neural connections of a Parkinson’s sufferer comes in this YouTube video, posted by the New England Journal of Medicine (NEMJ).
